[Abk. für Open Network Environment, dt. »offene Netzwerkumgebung«], Konzept der Firma Sun zur Erweiterung von Internetanwendungen, das sich als Konkurrenz zu Microsofts. NET versteht. Beide Konzepte arbeiten mit »intelligenten« Webseiten, die sich dynamisch an die Gewohnheiten des Nutzers anpassen.
 
Im Unterschied zu. NET basiert die Dienstschicht von ONE auf Java und den entsprechenden Erweiterungen wie JDBC oder NetBeans, die eine Schnittstelle zu bestehenden Anwendungen oder Daten ermöglichen sollen. Auf der Auslieferungsseite von ONE entfallen spezialisierte Modi wie WinForms; hier sind nur standardisierte Sprachen wie XML, HTML oder WML vorgesehen.
